What we do
Our Transport Service provides safe and reliable travel support for patients, staff and the public. We help people get to the places they need for their care. We also make sure important items and documents are moved safely between our sites.
We run daily courier journeys to keep services moving. We also have out‑of‑hours transport so essential items and people can travel when needed.
Patient, staff and public transport
We provide transport and taxi services for patients, staff and the public when they need to travel for care. This includes planned trips and urgent journeys.
Daily Courier Runs
Our team makes daily courier trips between Trust sites to safely move documents, equipment and other important items. Routes include:
Staff Shuttle Bus
We operate a dedicated shuttle bus between South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital. The service aims to:
- Make travel between sites easier and less stressful for staff
- Reduce pressure on hospital car parks
Out-of-Hours Transport
Taxi services are available when the main service is closed.
- Out-of-hours operates via an external contractor
- Bookings between 5pm-8pm can be made through Switchboard
