Jordan takes on Great North Run backwards for charity
Jordan Hood, Deputy Building Officer, took on a big challenge in this year’s Great North Run. He ran and walked the full course backwards to raise money and awareness for Andy’s Man Club. Jordan has worked for the Trust for 18 years, including nine years with Choice. He started training for the challenge in January 2026.
Jordan chose to support Andy’s Man Club because of the support it has given him. He wanted to raise money and awareness to thank the charity. He said:
“The charity helped me open up about my mental health. I have spoken about it with family, friends, work colleagues and even strangers. It is a fantastic charity, and I have met amazing people.”
The idea to run backwards came from Jordan’s own experience. He wanted to show that you can still move forward when life feels difficult. With the right support, things can get better. On race day, Jordan completed the course in three hours and 35 minutes. His challenge caught the attention of runners and spectators along the route. Three runners even told him they planned to donate to Andy’s Man Club after seeing his effort.
Jordan hoped to raise £500. Instead, he raised around £1,400 for the charity. He said:
“I feel a great sense of achievement. I completed a tough challenge and got people talking about Andy’s Man Club. I raised more money than I expected, but most importantly I helped raise awareness of the charity.”
Congratulations to Jordan on this fantastic achievement.
